At Field Components we recognize your need for high-quality Low Loss Cables.
When it comes to Low Loss Cables, Times Microwave Systems (TMS) is the leader of high-performance, flexible low loss 50ohm cables for wireless applications.
Times Microwave LMR® Cables can be used with Miners (PIGS) to help extend the antenna beyond its normal range.
There are other offshore sources of Low Loss RF Cable, but Times Microwave has no equal.
In terms of the data comparing the LMR series to offshore clone LMR cable, the VSWR and insertion loss data may look very comparable. The major difference between these constructions may not be noticeable until the cable has been installed in the field for a period of time.
Many of the LMR clones use inferior materials such as plastics and processing methods. This will produce a cable that looks to perform well out of the gate but will exhibit diminished performance over time. The issue of plastic quality is especially important to the jacket when the cable is installed outdoors. Cables installed outdoors are subjected to high levels of UV exposure and various weather conditions. Many of these offshore cables fail completely in as little as 1 to 2 years.
In addition to plastic quality, Times Microwave takes important steps to address the potential for moisture ingress. Times Microwave uses an adhesive between the dielectric and the center conductor as well as between the dielectric and the outer conductor. The closed cell foam will not allow for moisture to travel through the foam.
The jacket is pressured into the braid which minimizes trapped air and greatly reduces the ability of water to wick through the braid. The pressuring of the jacket also results in excellent mechanical stability.
These are the main reasons we choose to build Low Loss cables only using Times Microwave. Only Times Microwave has a 10-year warranty (twelve years for LMR® -DB) from the date of sale.
Be very aware of imitation LMR® Cables. LMR is the trademark of Time Microwave Systems. Many competitors use the term "LMR" when you will receive an alternate brand.
Which cable is right for my application?
There are three cable types to be addressed. LMR-240, LMR-400, LMR-600 When it comes to LMR Cable Types, each cable has its place. A few things to remember... The larger the cable, the cable loss is lower. A longer-length cable will require a larger diameter cable with lower loss. The larger the cable, the more difficult it is to install, it is heavier and more rigid.
The size of the cable is directly proportional to it's cost.
